John H. Turley, 84, of Pine Bluff, died Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock.
He was born October 7, 1929 in Pine Bluff, son of John H. and Freida Rex Turley.
John was reared and received his early education in Pine Bluff, graduating from Pine Bluff High School.
He was a custom home builder. John took pride in his work and was known for his quality craftsmanship.
John was a member of Altheimer United Methodist Church. He loved music, especially singing at church or at nursing homes. John also enjoyed visiting people at nursing homes, hospitals or shut-ins at home in recent years.
John was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Blankenship Turley, whom he married April 12, 1957 in Pine Bluff; his parents; six sisters, Dorothy Williams, Lucille Turley, Lura Bailey, Freida Johnson, Mildred Purvis and an infant sister; and brother, Robert Turley.
Survivors include two daughters, Lyn Shoffstall (Terry) of Tallahassee, Florida and Lisa Price (Mark) of Pine Bluff; four grandchildren, Katherine Price, Allison Price, Gretchen Price and Scott Shoffstall; special friend, Barbara Burks Hanley of North Little Rock; and five step-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 5, 2014 in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with Reverend Jeff Price and Reverend Fred Arnold officiating. Burial will be private. Visitation will be Friday afternoon from 4-6 p.m. at Robinson’s.
