J. D. “Hoppy” Cassidy, 76, of Pine Bluff, died Sunday, October 27, 2013, at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Hot Springs.
Mr. Cassidy was born September 3, 1937, in Hope, Ark., the son of the late Rufus Elton “R. E.” and Wilma Hoveta Downs Cassidy. Mr. Cassidy was reared and received his education in Magnolia, graduating from Magnolia High School. He was attending Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church in Calmer. He was also a member of the Quarter Century Club at International Paper (now Evergreen Packaging).
He was preceded in death by a son, Scott Cassidy and a sister, Patti Dunn.
Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Kristie and Jeff Wilson of Cabot, Kelli and Jimmy Cole of Woodlawn and Jeania and Burl Scifres of White Hall; his companion, Sherry Allen of Hot Springs; the mother of his children, Paula Cassidy of Cabot; brother-in-law, James Dunn of Newport; grandchildren, Evan and Brayden Wilson of Cabot, Kaitlyn Cole of Woodlawn and Scott Scifres of White Hall.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 30, 2013, at 2 p.m., in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors with Reverend Sammy Alverson officiating.
The family will receive friends at Robinson’s Tuesday evening from 6- 8 p.m.
