Jane Ayers Wooley, 73, of Pine Bluff, passed away Monday, August 25, 2014.
Born September 6, 1940, in Greeneville, Tennessee, she was a daughter of the late Therian and Elsie Mooneyham Ayers. She attended schools in Greeneville and graduated from Parrotsville High School.
In October of 1979, she married Floyd Wooley. Together they have shared nearly thirty-five years of life, love, and memories.
Jane was a loving and caring woman who spent her life caring for her children, teaching them what it meant to be a family. She worked for many years with the Centers for Youth and Families, opening her heart and her home to many foster children over the years. She was lovingly called “Mama Jane” by her children, foster children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Jane is survived by her loving husband, Floyd Wooley, of Pine Bluff; her children, Dennie Southerland, of Pine Bluff, Janet Pelton, of Fayetteville, Tammy Lilly, of Greeneville, Tennessee and Patty Chandler, of Chesapeake, Virginia; her fourteen grandchildren, Melissa Thompson, Brandy Henley, Justin Lilly, Daniel & Sarah Pelton, Jordan & Alex Chandler, Brandon, Beau, Stephen, Justin, Brent & Shane Southerland, and Jessica Case; seventeen great-grandchildren; her sisters, Gail Ayers, of Galveston and JoAnn Tweed, of Greeneville, Tennessee; her nephew, Blair Linville; and her special friends, Anthony Bilbrey and Rickey Batson, of White Hall.
She also leaves behind a legacy through the foster children she cared for over the years, including, Pierre McAdory, Jeremy Wood, Bruce Peterson and Charlie Smith, along with a host of friends and extended family.
Funeral services will be 1:00PM, Friday, August 29, 2014, in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6-8p.m. at Robinson’s. Friends may sign the online register at www.ralphrobinsonandson.com.
