COPPER CANYON, Texas — James Michael “Mike” Price, 63 of Copper Canyon, Texas, passed away November 20, 2013.
He was born December 8, 1949 in Pine Bluff, Ark. to James Marland Price and Ellene Lowry Price. Mike graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in San Antonio, Texas in 1968 and attended college at Texas A& M and San Antonio Junior College.
He married Deborah Locklar August 29, 1985 in Plano, Texas. Mike’s career began in the equipment rental business in Wichita Falls where he was co-owner of Strong Supply. He worked for Bomag in Baton Rouge after selling Strong Supply. In 1984, he began Soil Compaction Specialties in Dallas and opened a branch in 2004 in Wichita Falls. He sold this business in 2011 to enjoy retirement. Mike was an avid sportsman enjoying golf, hunting, fishing, scuba diving and competitive trap shooting. He was a member of the Dallas Gun Club, the Sunova Beach Fishing Club, the Dallas Safari Club and also enjoyed piloting his own airplane. Mike was also a member of the National Cutting Horse Association and competed in cutting horse competitions in multiple states. Mike loved life and enjoyed hosting his family and friends. He was passionate about any endeavor he pursued.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah; mother, Ellene Price; sisters, Marlene Yaney and husband, Mike, Cynthia Purnell and husband, Jeff and Tracee Mills and husband, Jeb; aunt, Theresa Lowry and nieces and nephews, Renee Innis, Jennifer Yaney, Bryan Mills, Christian Mills, Miles Purnell, Chase Purnell and Blake Purnell.
A service to celebrate Mike’s life will be held Sunday, November 24 at 1:00 p.m. at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home in Lewisville, Texas.
