James Havis Findley, age 91, of Pine Bluff, died Thursday, January 16, 2014. Born June 1, 1922 in Cleveland County, he was a son of the late James E. Findley and Nova Coleman Findley. Mr. Findley was a 1940 graduate of Pine Bluff High School, and a United States Army WWII Veteran, having served in the European Theater.
He was a member of Hawley Memorial United Methodist Church and the Jacob Brump Masonic Lodge 160, where he served as Worshipful Master in 1957. Mr. Findley retired in 1982 from the “Cotton Belt” railroad as a carman working on the Rip Track (Repair In Place) after 41 years of service.
He enjoyed helping others, watching birds and working in his yard. Other pastimes included wood working, and spoiling his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 23 years, Virginia Lee Meier Findley on February 25th, 1979; and siblings, James Harold Findley, James Thurman Findley, Margaret Francisco, Velma Adams, and Theda Belle Patton. Mr. Findley is survived by his daughters, Deborah Findley and companion Calvin Moye, Penelope Holloway and husband Roy, Yvonne Graham and companion Wade Haynes; six grandchildren, Nick Holloway and wife Megan, Austin Holloway, Garrett Hardin and wife Meredith, Julia Gibbins and husband Zach, Shelton Graham, and Madeline Graham; two great-grandchildren, Hudson and Caroline Rose Hardin; and many other loving family and friends.
Masonic graveside services were held Saturday, 3:00 p.m. at Brown Cemetery. Arrangements were by Fuller Hale-South Funeral Services.
