Evelyn Arniece Hankins Lunsford Ashcraft, 88, of Pine Bluff, passed away Friday, May 23, 2014 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center.
Born March 7, 1926, in Pine Bluff, she was a daughter of the late Lonnie T. Hankins, Sr. and Anna Mae Wilson Hankins. She was reared and received her early education in Pine Bluff, attending Pine Bluff High School. She continued her education becoming an LPN and later receiving her RN Degree from Arkansas A&M (now University of Arkansas at Monticello).
Mrs. Ashcraft worked for Jefferson Regional Medical Center for a number of years. She also worked as a supervisor at Rison Nursing Home and Davis Nursing Home, retiring in 1992.
On July 4 1981, she married Shelby Ashcraft. Together, they have shared nearly thirty-three years of life, love and marriage.
She was a faithful member of Greenlee Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Leland Lunsford; two grandchildren, Shelby Dallas Lunsford and William Thomas Lunsford; one brother, Lonnie T. Lunsford, Jr.; and four sisters, Hazel Hankins Brown Bug, Naomi Hankins Ferrell, Annie Mae Hankins Welch and Ouita Hankins.
She is survived by her husband, Shelby Ashcraft, of Pine Bluff; her son, Lewis T. Lunsford and Vera, of White Hall; her granddaughter, Whitney Lunsford, of Conway; and one sister, Jessie Tucker and Art, of White Hall.
Service will be 2:00 PM, Tuesday, May 27, 2014, in the chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with Reverend James Watson officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery at Rye, Arkansas. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00-8:00PM at Robinson’s.
