LEAGUE CITY, TEXAS - Eva Mary (Dickerson) Sanders was born in Menefee, Ark. on April 19, 1948, to the late Reverend Dr. Robert and Mrs. Eva Mae Dickerson. Eva was the second of four children. Eva remained a member of St. Paul until she moved to League City, Texas in August 1988 where she united with Bible Way Fellowship Baptist Church in Houston, Texas under Dr. Ivory L. Varner, Pastor.
She graduated from Southeast Junior/Senior High School in 1966. She received a Bachelor of Arts , and later a Bachelor of Science degree from The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. Eva taught elementary school in the Arkansas and Texas School districts.
She received many awards including the Partners in Space Education ExcellenceAward, the Principal’s Excellence Award, and the Teacher of the Year Award. Eva was a member of her professional organizations and was also a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. Eva passed away, Monday, August 11, 2014 at the Clear Lake Regional Medical Center in Webster, Texas.
She is survived by her son Ray Alton Sanders, II of League City Texas; her brother the Reverend Dr. Robert Marion Dickerson,Jr. of Columbus, Ga.; two sisters, Corliss Leigh Dickerson of Pine Bluff, Ark. and Martha Louise (Dickerson) Blackmon of Little Rock, Ark. and a brother-in-law, Roy Blackmon.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturdy, August 16, 2014 at the Saint Paul Missionary Baptist Church with the Reverend M. Dickerson Jr., officiating. Interment will be at the Graceland Cemetery. Services entrusted to the P.K. Miller Mortuary.
Visitation is from 5-7 p.m. at the mortuary, on Friday.
Mrs. Sanders will lie in repose at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
