JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Edward “Ed” Carnell Bryant, 47, of Jacksonville, Fla. (formally of Pine Bluff) passed away on November 29, 2013 in Jacksonville. He was born in England on December 15, 1965 to Beatrice Bryant and Joe Nathan Bryant II.
Edward is a 1984 honor graduate of Dollarway High School and a 1988 Cum Laude graduate of Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, Fla. He earned his MBA in 1993 from Harvard University in Cambridge, Mass.
He was a delegate to Arkansas Boys State and was elected Arkansas Boys’ State Governor by his peers. During college, he participated in several summer internships at Fortune 500 companies and eventually went to work for Prudential in the Executive Fast Trac program. He was also a member of Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity.
Edward was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Charlie and Willie Mae Dodds; his paternal grandparents, Joe Nathan Bryant Sr. and Viola Bryant.
He is survived by his loving mother, Beatrice Bryant; father, Joe Nathan Bryant II and Stepmother, Evelyn Clay-Bryant all of Pine Bluff; sister, Carla Bryant of Pine Bluff; three brothers, Patrick Grady (Sylvia) of Pine Bluff; Joe N. Bryant III (Tara) of Allport, Ark. and Larry Bryant (Carolyn) of Conway, Ark.; two beautiful daughters, Akielah Cherelle Bryant, of Atlanta, Ga., and Victoria Maegan Bryant of Little Rock, Ark.; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Services will be held Saturday, December 14, 2013, at Breath of Life Church,1313 Pine Street, Pine Bluff, Ark. at 11:30 a.m. Pastor Clyde Sherpell, of Trinity Temple, C.O.G.I.C. of Gainesville, Texas is officiating.
