STAR CITY - Edna Lee Linzy Nutt, 93 of Star City died Friday at Gardner Nursing Home in Star City. She was born January 18, 1921 in Lincoln County to the late Floyd Pierce and Farrie Vermillion McGriff. She was educated in Glendale and Star City, was a member of Calvary Assembly of God Church near Star City where she taught Sunday School and led song services, she was on the Star City Senior Citizens Center Advisory Board for many years and loved to Garden and Sew. Mrs. Nutt was retired from Levi Strauss and for many years chicken farmed with her husband.
She was preceded in death by her first husband William Thomas Linzy whom she married June 11, 1938 and died April 6, 1985, her second husband, Greado Nutt whom she married Oct. 6, 1986 and died March 12, 2006, a son, Holland Linzy, Great Grandson, Michael McTigrit, Brothers, Arthur McGriff, Hoyt Pierce, Ralph Braswell and Sisters, Beatrice McGriff, Carolyn Cummings, Emogine Reynolds and Irene Nowlin.
Survivors include, two daughters, Brenda McFalls (Keith), Sandra Johnson (Ronnie), daughter in law, Marie Linzy, step son, Billy Nutt(Barbara) all of Star City. Six Brothers, Buddy McGriff and Calvin McGriff both of Star City, Jesse Braswell of Ward, Roger Braswell of Flintville, Tn. James Pierce of Ragley La. Jimmy Pierce of Hazel Green Al. Four Sisters, Eva Cogbill of Pine Bluff, Peggy Brown of Lake Charles, La. Gladys Graves of Hazel Green, Al. and Louise Mann of Warren. Other Survivors include eighteen grandchildren, forty one great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
Services will be 10:00 A.M. Monday at the Griffin Funeral Chapel in Star City with Bro. Thomas McGriff and Bro. Earl Lindsey officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Drake Cemetery near Star City. Arrangements by Griffin Funeral Service in Star City.
