Doane Yeager

JONESBORO — Doane Yeager, 89, a resident of Jonesboro and formerly of Pine Bluff, died Wednesday, December 4, 2013, at Jonesboro Healthcare.

Born September 1, 1924, in Gurdon, he was a son of Doane Yeager, Sr. and Margaret Lipscomb Yeager.

Mr. Yeager was reared and received his early education in Gurdon, attending Gurdon High School. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II. He moved to Pine Bluff in 1946. Doane Yeager married Edna Earline Ellison on December 14, 1946. Mr. Yeager worked fifteen years for Budweiser, five years for Trotter Ford, and two years as a salesman for Wooley-Gandy Motor Company.

Mr. Yeager was a member of Gurdon Chapel Church, a lifetime member and past post commander for the Vetrerans of Foreign Wars, lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans, and the American Legion.

Mr. Yeager was preceded in death by his parents, his wife; one daughter, Marcia Yeager; one brother, A. D. Yeager; one sister, Mary Elizabeth Huntington.

Survivors include one daughter, Cindy McVay of Jonesboro; one son, James Allen Yeager of Savannah, Georgia, nine grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren; one brother, Jacob Beebe Yeager of Arkadelphia; one sister, Patsy Jean Bib of Calif.

There will be no visitation.

Funeral services at 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 9, 2013, in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors with Reverend Michael Powell officiating.

Memorials may be made to the donor’s charity of choice or the hospice of choice.
