CLEVELAND, MS – Clara Christine Tucker Kalkbrenner, age 94, of Cleveland, Mississippi, died Thursday, July, 24, 2014, at the Cleveland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Kalkbrenner was born June 1, 1920, to Horace and Pearl Patterson Tucker in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. She was reared and educated in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, graduating from Pine Bluff High School. She married Henry Joseph Kalkbrenner, Jr., on October 18, 1941. They had two children, Harry Kalkbrenner, Sr., (Sara) and Jo Ellen Kalkbrenner Dohogne (William), who were raised in Malden, Missouri where Christine worked as a homemaker. In Malden, Missouri, she was a member of the DeReign Federated Women’s Club. Christine and Henry eventually returned to Pine Bluff, Arkansas, where she was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Christine was strong in her Catholic faith. She had a deep love for her family and enjoyed reading and listening to music.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Henry; sister, Catherine; and brother, Carl. She leaves behind to remember her both of her children and their spouses as well as four grandchildren, Melanie Bray (Marty), Karen Boyd (Andy), Amy Dohogne, and Harry Kalkbrenner, Jr. as well as five great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, Tuesday, July 29, 2014, at 12:00 PM with Father Frank DuPreez officiating. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery. A Vigil service will be held at Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors Tuesday morning at 10:00 AM with Deacon Noel “Bud” Bryant officiating. Visitation will follow from 10:30 to 11:30 AM.
