JEFFERSON — Cecil Byrd, 79, a resident of Jefferson, died Tuesday, November 26, 2013, at St. Vincent Infirmary in Little Rock.
Born October 21, 1934, in Danville, he was a son of Fred Lauren and Maude Esther Nichols Byrd.
Mr. Byrd was reared and received his early education in Altheimer. He worked for 30 years in the pest control industry. He worked as a laborer for Ben Pearson for 15 years, and as a laborer for Illinois Tool Works for 15 years. Mr. Byrd was a member of New Harvest Church of God in White Hall.
Mr. Byrd was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Clyde Byrd and Carl Byrd; two sisters, Ruby Coverdill and Ruth Holmes; one daughter, Betty Byrd; one grandson, David Saucier.
Survivors include four daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Richard Saucier of Redfield, Mary Jane and Loyde Smith of Hot Springs, Janetta and Earnest Ashcraft of Redfield, and Linda and Michael Davidson, Sr. of White Hall; five grandsons, one grandaughter, eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Clarence Byrd of Beebe, and Charles Byrd of Pine Bluff; one sister, Reetha Jay of Redding, Calif.; many nieces and nephews who he dearly loved.
There will be a visitation from 6-8 p.m. Friday, November 29, 2013, at Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 30, 2013, in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson and Son with Reverend Ronald Stephen Byrd and Reverend Travis Creekmore officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Bigelow at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 30, 2013.
