Betty Vaughn


LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Betty J. Hughes Vaughn, 60 of Los Angeles, Calif., formerly of Pine Bluff, Ark., passed away December 26, 2013.

She was born to the late Odessa Porchia Hughes Starks of Pine Bluff and the late Grady Hughes of Camden, Ark.

She was a graduate of Pine Bluff High School and UAPB where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree. She worked as a librarian at the university library. She later moved to North Hollywood, Calif. where she worked for Warner Brothers Studios and eventually became part owner with her husband of their business, Animation Creation.

Before her death, she was an assistant to her husband in his career. She attended the Church of Christ during her last stay in Pine Bluff.

A memorial service will be held in Los Angeles, Calif.

The late Burlin Hughes, brother, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her husband, Byron Vaughn of Los Angeles, Calif.; step-father, Alvin Starks, father-in-law, Thomas Vaughn both of Pine Bluff; step-mother, Lois Hughes of Arkadelphia; sisters, Lynda Jones of Pine Bluff, Patricia Norvell of Arkadelphia; brothers, Calvin Hughes of Detroit, Mich., Tony Hughes of Arkadelphia; sister-in-laws, Spring Vaughns of Pine Bluff, Hope Johnson of Little Rock; brother-in-laws, Ron Johnson of Little Rock, Robert Norvell of Arkadelphia; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
