Mr. Alton Murphy, Sr., 73 of Pine Bluff, passed Wednesday, July 9, 2014. He was born in Sherrill, Arkansas to the late Fred Murphy and Maggie (Horton) Murphy. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Eddie Lee Murphy, Dan Murphy, and Milton Murphy; and one sister, Freddie Mae Murphy. He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Irene Hillyard Murphy; Three sons, Alton (Diana) Murphy Jr. of Bedford, Texas, Ronald Murphy,Sr., of Pine Bluff, Arkansas and Reginald (Bettina) Murphy of Forrest City, Arkansas; Four daughters, Patty Dyer and Wanda (Ramon) Hunter, both of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; Stephanie Murphy of Stafford, Virginia, and Tikita (Leeman) Brown of West Memphis, Arkansas; Four brothers, Arnett (Earnestine) Murphy, and Clarence Murphy, both of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; Charles (Surella) Murphy of Lancaster, California, and Kenneth Murphy of Los Angeles, California; Five sisters, Lucy Murphy, Christine Murphy, Eloise Murphy, Elsie Murphy, and Verdia Murphy, all of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; Nineteen grandchildren, Eight great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 19, at 10:30 a.m., at New Community Church, 321 N. Birch, Pine Bluff by Reverend Leon Williams. Burial will be in the St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Sherrill, Arkansas by Brown Funeral Home of Pine Bluff. The body will lie in-state Saturday, at 9:45 a.m. until service time.
