One-day assistance event for tornado survivors planned

LITTLE ROCK — A coalition of organizations that have been aiding survivors of the April 27 tornado in Central Arkansas is planning a one-day assistance event in Vilonia, the state Department of Human Services said Friday.

The Arkansas Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster will provide a variety of services from noon to 8 p.m. next Friday at the First Assembly of God Church in Vilonia, the agency said.

Services will include distribution of food, water and gift cards; crisis counseling, help with disaster debris removal; information on financial assistance for individuals, businesses; financial assistance for military personnel who can show a military ID; and legal help.
