Lepanto woman claims second-largest prize in Arkansas lottery history

LITTLE ROCK — A Lepanto woman claimed a $3 million lottery prize Tuesday, the second-largest prize in the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery’s history, lottery officials said.

Miranda Huffman won the prize by matching the five white balls in last Friday’s Mega Millions drawing. She bought her winning ticket at Jordan’s Kwik Stop 14 on Arkansas 135 in Lepanto.

No one matched the five white balls and the gold-colored Mega Ball, so the jackpot of $353 went unclaimed. The jackpot has since increased to $400 million.

Lottery officials said Huffman told them the ticket was the first lottery ticket she ever bought for herself. She said she plans to use the money to build a house.

Arkansas’ lottery launched in September 2009. All proceeds after prizes and expenses go to fund college scholarships for Arkansas students.
