Boozman out of ICU

WASHINGTON – U.S. Sen. John Boozman, R-Ark., was moved to a private recovery room on Thursday as he continues to progress after heart surgery two days earlier.

Boozman, 63, had been in the intensive care unit at Mercy Hospital in Rogers since undergoing surgery Tuesday to repair an acute aortic dissection.

His Senate office issued a press release Thursday afternoon saying that Boozman has been talking with family members for long stretches of the day and walking with the aid of medical staff.

“His family, who continues to be with him at the hospital, has indicated that doctors are amazed at how quickly Boozman is recovering from the surgery,” the office stated.
