WASHINGTON — Sen. John Boozman was released Sunday from Mercy Hospital in Rogers less than a week after undergoing emergency heart surgery.
The 63-year-old underwent surgery on Tuesday to repair an acute aortic dissection. His surgeon credited his “great physical condition” as one reason he was recovering so well.
Boozman, R-Ark., issued a statement Monday expressing his concern for families impacted by deadly weekend storms in central Arkansas.
“My thoughts and prayers are with the families who lost loved ones in this devastation,” he said. “While Arkansans are all too familiar with the destruction that Mother Nature can leave behind, it never gets easier. Arkansans have always come together in the most difficult times to help neighbors in need. It’s clear that commitment continues today.”
Boozman is receiving regular updates from his staff about the search and rescue effort as it unfolds.
