The Arkansas State Highway Commission approved a bid for improvements to a roadway in Jefferson County, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department officials.
The purpose of the project is to resurface 3 miles of County Road 86/Old Star City Road to the southeast of Pine Bluff, extending north from Interstate 530 to Pinebergen Road.

This county road project is funded through the State Aid County Road Program established by the legislature and administered by the State Aid Division of the Arkansas State Highway & Transportation Department. This program provides about $20 million annually from the state motor fuels tax to assist counties with projects of their choosing on the county road system.
Construction is scheduled to begin in two to four weeks, weather permitting. The project should be complete on or before Oct. 15.
