LITTLE ROCK — The number of homes sold in Arkansas in December rose 17.59 percent compared to a year earlier, while the average price of homes decreased 2.58 percent, the Arkansas Realtors Association said Wednesday.
The association said 1 ,972 homes sold in the 43-county area it surveyed in December, up from December 2012. The average price of a home was $156,747, down from $160,902 a year earlier.
Benton County had the most homes sold in December with 367, followed by Pulaski County with 341, Washington County with 181, Saline County with 135 and Faulkner County with 95.
Ninety-five homes were sold in Sebastian County and 34 were sold in Jefferson County.
Average home prices for the month were highest in Fulton County at $400,000, followed by Cleburne County at $229,959, Ashley County at $186,000, Washington County at $184,632 and Benton County at $183,891.
The average home price was $142,544 in Sebastian County and $76,294 in Jefferson County.
