Arkansas flags to fly at half-staff for Maya Angelou

LITTLE ROCK — Gov. Mike Beebe has ordered Arkansas flag to be flown at half-staff on Saturday in honor of Maya Angelou, his office said Friday.

The author of “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings” and numerous other works died May 28 at her home in Winston-Salem, N.C. She was 86.

Angelou was born in St. Louis but spent part of her childhood in Stamps.
