Woman arrested after allegedly trying to hit second woman with vehicle

A reported verbal altercation between two women Wednesday turned physical and resulted in the arrest of one of them after she allegedly tried to hit the other with a vehicle.

Keonna Johnson, 23, allegedly chased the victim around a yard in the 2300 block of High Street and drove through a ditch before leaving the scene, Deputy Prosecutor Bryan Achorn said during a probable-cause hearing Thursday.

Police reported that the alleged victim and Johnson argued over the phone before Johnson went to the victim’s house and jumped out of her vehicle with a baseball bat.

Achorn said the alleged victim wrestled with Johnson and took the bat away, and Johnson jumped back into her car and drove it at the victim.

Police reported that the alleged victim said she used the bat to break the windows of Johnson’s vehicle in an attempt to get Johnson to stop.

Several witnesses at the scene gave the same story as the alleged victim, Achorn said.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set a $10,000 bond for Johnson after ruling that prosecutors had probable cause to charge her with aggravated assault.

Johnson also was ordered to have no contact with the alleged victim until the case is settled.

The Public Defender’s Office was appointed to represent Johnson.
