Woman accused of theft, forgery

A$25,000 cash-only bond was set Friday for a woman who allegedly cashed a stolen check.

Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set the bond after ruling that prosecutors had probable cause to charge Natasha Harkless, 37, with forgery and theft of property.

Deputy Prosecutor Maxie Kizer said Harkless had “an extensive criminal history,” primarily from Michigan, and should be considered a flight risk.

Detective Jeremy Oswalt of the Pine Bluff Police Department said in a probable-cause affidavit that last October, the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff sent a check to an individual for $2,056 but the check was never received.

According to Kizer, police developed information that Harkless had cashed the check at Bank of America.

Harkless said she would hire her own attorney.
