Tillar man killed in Lincoln County accident

A Tillar man was killed Tuesday morning when he was struck by an 18-wheeler while trying to cross Highway 65 in Lincoln County.

According to a preliminary report from the Arkansas State Police, Mitchell Head***, 27, exited a vehicle and was crossing the highway when he was struck by a tractor-trailer driven by Dallas E. Boyce of Bald Knob, who was not injured.

Lincoln County Coroner James Hawkins pronounced Head dead at the scene at 7:45 a.m.

Trooper Gordon Seawood said the accident occurred at 6:22 a.m., on Highway 65 south at Arkansas Highway 388. The weather was foggy and the roadway was wet at the time of the accident.

The death was the 391st reported so far this year on the state’s highways.
