Shooting sends 16 year old to hospital

A 16-year-old male sustained what police are calling a non-life-threatening gunshot wound Wednesday evening while walking on the southwest side of the city.

Police are not releasing the victim’s name because of his age.

Pine Bluff Police Department spokesman Lt. David Price said the teen was walking on trails behind the former County Market building, near the 28th Avenue overpass, when someone he did not know appeared and shot him in the arm with a dark-colored gun.

Police were called shortly before 7 p.m. to 2303 Howard Drive, where they met with the victim, who was later taken by ambulance from the scene.

Police had not released a suspect’s name or description at press time. The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information about the person or persons involved is asked to contact the Detective Division at 730-2090. All calls will be kept confidential.
