Sheriff's office awarded new equipment

The Criminal Justice Institute has awarded the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office new Dell laptops and body cameras for their efforts during the Click it or Ticket and Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaigns.

Lt. Randy Dolphin Jr., assistant division commander for the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Uniform Patrol Division, was on hand to accept the equipment from CJI law enforcement liaisons Timothy Hibbs and Gary Miller.

The Arkansas State Police Highway Safety Office provides National Highway Traffic Safety Administration grant funds to support the Law Enforcement Liaison Project.

“With the seemingly endless demand for newer and more innovative technology by law enforcement agencies and customers alike, the laptop will help replace outdated laptops the Sheriff’s Office already uses, while the pocket camera will be an added tool that deputies can utilize to record audio and video of their interaction with citizens within Jefferson County,” said Major of Operations Lafayette Woods Jr.
