Sheridan woman killed in Saturday accident

A Sheridan woman was killed Saturday in a one-vehicle accident on U.S. 270 east of Sheridan.

According to a preliminary report from the Arkansas State Police, Anita L. McBride, 52, was westbound on U.S. 270 when the 2004 Dodge she was driving crossed into the eastbound lane, left the roadway, struck a culvert and overturned, coming to rest upside down. McBride was pronounced dead at the scene by Grant County Coroner Michael Walton.

The accident was reported at 3:58 p.m., and according to Trooper Marshall Williams, the weather was clear and the roadway dry at the time.

The death was the 297th reported so far this year on the state’s highways.
