Reported pedestrian accident leads to arrest

What was initially thought to be an accident involving a pedestrian Tuesday morning resulted in the arrest of a woman who allegedly hit a man with her car.

According to a probable-cause affidavit from Detective Cassandra McAfee of the Pine Bluff Police Department, Karla McDonald, 29, allegedly followed her ex-boyfriend to Broadmoor Elementary School on Tuesday morning and struck him with her vehicle after a confrontation.

A witness told police he saw the alleged victim being hit while the victim was walking back to his own vehicle.

McDonald was arrested on probable cause of aggravated assault but Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney ruled that probable cause existed to charge McDonald with first-degree battery.

McDonald also was ordered to have no contact with the alleged victim until the case is settled.
