Reported burglary in progress leads to arrest

A reported burglary in progress Tuesday afternoon on Rob Roy Road and Morgan Road resulted in the arrest of a man who had to be chased across a muddy field by sheriff’s deputies.

Brad Yarbrough, 35, who has multiple prior felony convictions, allegedly ran into the field after getting out of a pickup truck that was being chased by the owner of the property Yarbough allegedly broke into.

According to a probable cause affidavit from Sgt. Mickey Buffkin of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies found a number of items in the back of the truck that had been taken in the alleged burglary, and other items that had fallen out of the truck while it was being chased. The property was vallued at $2,500.

A woman who was in the truck with Yarbrough allegedly told deputies she thought Yarbrough had permission to take the items, and said she told him several times to stop while the truck was being chased.

Because of Yarbrough’s lengthy prior criminal history and because there are other charges pending against him, Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set a $25,000 cash-only bond after ruling that prosecutors had probable cause to charge Yarbrough with burglary and theft of property.
