A report of gunshots in central Pine Bluff on Thursday night resulted in the arrest of a man who allegedly fired shots at a vehicle occupied by a woman.
Robert Smith, 27, allegedly had been involved in a dispute with the woman and got a gun and fired shots as she was driving away, Deputy Prosecutor Rik Ramsey said during a court hearing for Smith Friday.
Detective William Freeman said in a probable-cause affidavit that the incident occurred in the 800 block of Chestnut Street, and police found several bullet holes in the vehicle.
Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set a $25,000 bond for Smith, who Ramsey said had no prior convictions or pending charges, after ruling that prosecutors had probable cause to charge him with aggravated assault.
Kearney also ordered Smith to have no contact with the alleged victim until the case is settled.
Smith said he would hire his own attorney.
