Report of armed disturbance leads to arrest

A reported armed disturbance on the east side of Pine Bluff on Friday afternoon resulted in the arrest of a woman who allegedly tried to stab her boyfriend.

Candis Thompson, 23, was taken into custody after she was treated for a cut to her arm that occurred during the altercation, Detective Jerry Lambert of the Pine Bluff Police Department said during a court hearing for Thompson Monday.

Lambert said Thompson and her boyfriend had gotten into a verbal altercation that turned physical when Thompson allegedly pulled out a knife she carried and attempted several times to stab him.

Witnesses to the incident told police the boyfriend tried to restrain Thompson during the altercation.

Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set a $10,000 bond for Thompson after ruling that prosecutors had probable cause to charge her with aggravated assault.

Thompson was also ordered to have no contact the alleged victim until the case is settled.

The Public Defender’s Office was appointed to represent Thompson.
