A $10,000 bond was set Tuesday for a Pine Bluff man who allegedly beat a woman Saturday night in an apartment in the 4300 block of South Olive Street.
Dantrell Canada, 20, allegedly jumped on the victim and threw her to the floor, according to an affidavit from Pine Bluff Police Department Detective Chris Wieland, who said the victim’s face was swollen, her eye was reddish and she had a small gash visible on her right elbow.
Wieland said in the report that Canada was previously convicted of third-degree domestic battery April 22, 2014.
District Judge Kim Bridgforth set the bond after ruling that prosecutors had probable cause to charge Canada with second-offense third-degree domestic battery.
Bridgforth ordered Canada to have no contact with the woman until the case is settled and to return to court June 10.
Canada said he would hire his own attorney.
