A Pine Bluff man was arrested Wednesday after he allegedly cut a male victim with a knife while the alleged victim was trying to break up a fight between the suspect and a woman.
Deputy Prosecutor Nicole Pugh said during a court hearing Friday that police were called to the 3900 block of West Short 2nd Avenue on Wednesday. The alleged victim told officers that Rickey Jeter, 53, and the woman had gotten involved in with the alleged victim’s mother.
Detective Marcia Oliver said in a probable-cause affidavit that Jeter allegedly began hitting the woman and her two sons intervened when Jeter allegedly cut one of them with a knife.
Pugh said Jeter has an extensive criminal history dating back to 1989. At Pugh’s request, Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set a $25,000 bond for Jeter after ruling that prosecutors had probable cause to charge him with second offense third-degree domestic battery.
In addition to setting the bond, Bridgforth also ordered Jeter to have no contact with the alleged victim or his mother until the case is settled.
The Public Defender’s Office was appointed to represent Jeter.
