Investigation leads to drug arrest

An investigation into an alleged theft from a camper trailer on Stagecoach Road on Thursday resulted in the arrest of a man on drug-related charges.

Robert Johnson, 43, allegedly admitted that suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia found in a camper trailer in the 3800 block of Stagecoach Road by Jefferson County Sheriff’s Investigators were his, Tri-County Drug Task Force Sgt. Andy Hoots said in a probable-cause affidavit presented in court Friday.

Deputy Prosecutor Carol Billings said Johnson gave investigators permission to search the camper trailer where the suspected drugs were found.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set a $2,500 bond for Johnson after ruling that prosecutors had probable cause to charge him with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Johnson said he would hire his own attorney.
