Cash only bond set in alleged rape

A $25,000 cash only bond was set Monday for a man who allegedly raped a woman he had formerly dated.

Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set the bond after ruling prosecutors had probable cause to charge Dedric Greer, 30, with rape.

Detective Larry Gailey said in a probable cause affidavit that police were sent to the emergency room at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in the early morning hours where the alleged victim told them she had gone to a house on the west side of Pine Bluff to visit friends.

According to the affidavit, the alleged victim said there were several people in the house, including Greer, who asked her to go into a room so they could talk.

Gailey reported that the woman said she had smoked a “Hooka” which was described as a type of smoking device, and didn’t remember anything else until she woke up and Greer was having sex with her. The alleged victim also told police she did not give Greer permission to have sex with her.

In addition to setting the bond, Bridgforth ordered Greer to have no contact with the alleged victim until the case is settled.
