Cash-only bond set in alleged assault

A $10,000 cash-only bond was set Thursday for a Pine Bluff man who allegedly pointed a gun at several people last week.

Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set the bond after ruling that prosecutors had probable cause to charge Brian Gaddy, 42, with aggravated assault and with being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Deputy Prosecutor Nicole Pugh asked for the cash-only bond because Gaddy has charges of residential burglary, theft of property, terroristic threatening, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and delivery of a controlled substance pending.

Detective Chris Wieland of the Pine Bluff Police Department said in a probable-cause affidavit that the alleged victim told police she had gone to the 2300 block of West 25th Avenue on April 25 to collect money that she had loaned a person. While there, the woman said, she got into a verbal argument with Gaddy that turned physical when the two pushed each other.

Pugh said Gaddy allegedly pulled a gun and pointed it at the woman, then allegedly pointed it at another woman who was in a vehicle in the parking lot with her children.

According to police, Gaddy was convicted of a felony in 1991 in Kansas City.

In addition to setting the bond, Bridgforth ordered Gaddy to have no contact with the alleged victims until the case is settled.

Gaddy said he would hire his own attorney.
