Cash only bond in alleged rape

A $100,000 cash-only bond was set Sunday for a Redfield man who allegedly raped a teenage girl Friday.

Circuit Judge Jodi Raines Dennis set the bond after ruling that prosecutors had probable cause to charge Santez Miller, 31, with rape.

At a court hearing for Miller on Monday, Deputy Prosecutor Maxie Kizer asked Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney to order Miller to have no contact with the alleged victim, a request Kearney agreed to.

Redfield Police Detective Teri Patterson said in a probable-cause affidavit that officers located the girl, 17, at an apartment complex in Redfield and she was taken to a Little Rock hospital after complaining of pain.

Patterson said the alleged victim told police that Miller had ripped her shorts off and forced her to have sex with him, and that before the incident, the girl had sent a text message to a friend saying she was scared and asking for help.

When Miller was interviewed, he denied forcing the alleged victim to have sex.

Miller said he would hire his own attorney.
