A $10,000 bond was set Wednesday for a man who allegedly pushed his pregnant girlfriend out of a moving vehicle Monday.
Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set the bond after ruling prosecutors had probable cause to charge Donald Briggs, 48, with second-degree battery.
According to a probable cause affidavit from Detective Chris Wieland that was presented in court, the alleged victim told police she was riding with Briggs and when he turned into the parking lot of a business on U.S. 65 south, he pushed her out of the vehicle.
The alleged victim was taken to Jefferson Regional Medical Center where she was treated for her injuries and told police she was eight months pregnant, Wieland said in the affidavit.
When Briggs was interviewed, he allegedly denied pushing the woman and, and said she jumped from the moving vehicle.
In addition to setting the bond, Bridgforth ordered Briggs to have no contact with the alleged victim until the case is settled.
Briggs said he would hire his own attorney.
