Bond set in alleged domestic battery

A $10,000 bond was set Monday for a man who allegedly threw a glass plate at a woman during an argument Saturday.

Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set the bond after ruling prosecutors had probable cause to charge Edgar Goshen, 48, with second-degree domestic battery.

Deputy Prosecutor Nicole Pugh said Gosen was arrested after police were sent at 3 a.m. to the 3800 block of West Third Avenue in response to a reported domestic disturbance.

Detective Steve Rucker said in a probable cause affidavit that the alleged victim told police she and Goshen had gotten into an argument and he threw the plate which shattered and cut her arms.

Pugh said Goshen told police he didn’t remember throwing the plate at the woman.

In addition to setting the bond, Bridgforth ordered Goshen to have no contact with the alleged victim until the case is settled.

The Public Defender’s Office was appointed to represent Goshen.
