Bond set in alleged assault

A $15,000 bond was set Friday for a man who allegedly threw a juvenile female against a wall and touched her inappropriately on Thursday.

Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set the bond after ruling prosecutors had probable cause to charge Nicholas Pitts, 34, with second-degree battery and second-degree sexual assault.

Police Detective Roger Gray said in a probable cause affidavit that police were called to a motel in the 200 block of North Blake Street where the alleged victim, an 11-year-old female, said Pitts had poured a milkshake on her, then threw her against a wall and onto a bed. He also touched her inappropriately, the girl said.

A witness to the incident confirmed the alleged victim’s story and also said Pitts hit the girl with a pillow.

According to the affidavit, Pitts was “too intoxicated to be interviewed.”

In addition to setting the bond, Bridgforth ordered Pitts to have no contact with the alleged victim until the case is settled.
