Bond set in alleged assault

A $10,000 bond was set Monday for a Jefferson County woman who allegedly threatened two other women after a verbal altercation.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set the bond after ruling prosecutors had probable cause to charge Debra Thompson, 48, with aggravated assault.

Deputy Prosecutor Nicole Pugh said the incident occurred on the parking lot of a grocery store and Thompson allegedly pulled a machette out of her vehicle and “threatened to cut one of the victim’s heads off while holding the machette.”

In addition to setting the bond, Kearney ordered Thompson to have no contact with the alleged victims until the case is settled.

Thompson said she would hire her own attorney.
