Beebe plans to pardon Arkansas County man

An Arkansas County man was one of seven people from across the state who are slated to be pardoned by Gov. Mike Beebe.

Donnie F. Maier of Dewitt was convicted of burglary and theft of property in 1981. He has completed all the terms of his sentence, paid all imposed fines and fees, and there have been no further criminal law violations.

The notice from the Governor’s Office said there were no law enforcement objections to the application.

An additional 20 applications were denied and 11 others had no action taken by the governor.

The pardon will become effective after a 30-day period for public comment.
