Alleged employee theft leads to arrest

An investigation into an alleged employee theft at McDonald’s in the Jefferson Square Shopping Center resulted in the arrest of a woman who denied taking any money.

April Clark, 34, allegedly told police she had accidentally left money in the store in September and she was attempting to make up the lost money by floating bank deposits, Detective Marcia Oliver said in a probable cause affidavit presented in court Monday.

Deputy Prosecutor Maxie Kizer said the store’s management reported $1,900 missing and Clark allegedly told police it was her fault the money was missing.

Clark also allegedly said the incident “was an accident.”

Kizer said Clark is on probation in Desha County on theft charges.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set a $10,000 bond for Clark after ruling prosecutors had probable cause to charge her with theft of property.

The Public Defender’s Office was appointed to represent Clark.
