$500,000 bond set in rape case

A $500,000 cash-only bond was set for a man accused of breaking into a house and raping a woman on April 9 in Pine Bluff.

Christopher Holder, 21, also has pending rape and aggravated battery charges from a separate 2013 incident, Deputy Prosecutor Nicole Pugh said during a probable cause hearing Monday. Pugh said police identified Holder as the suspect in the April 9 incident because of DNA from a rape kit done at the hospital.

“The victim told [police] that she was asleep when someone broke into her house and raped her at gunpoint,” Pugh said. “The victim said he told her not to move him or he would kill her.”

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney ruled that prosecutors have probable cause to charge Holder and granted Pugh’s request for the bond and that he avoid contact with the alleged victim.
