A pedestrian and a motorist were killed in two separate accidents Friday in Southeast Arkansas.
A Pine Bluff man was killed Friday morning when he was struck by several vehicles while walking on U.S. 65 south in Chicot County.
According to a preliminary report from the Arkansas State Police, Keith Donald Sandine, 54, was walking south in the northbound lane of the highway when he was struck by a tractor-trailer that was northbound.
The report said Sandine was knocked into the other north bound lane where he was struck by three other vehicles. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Chicot County Coroner Skyler King at 7:04 a.m.
The accident was reported at 6:41 a.m., and according to the report, the weather was clear and the roadway dry at the time.
Also Friday, a Monticello man was killed in a two-vehicle accident on Midway Route in Drew County.
The Arkansas State Police said Marc C. Pevey, 25, was driving a 2004 Chevrolet that collided with the rear axle of a Freightliner tractor-trailer that was entering Midway Route from the east side of the road to turn south.
That accident was reported at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
So far this year, there have been three deaths on the state’s highways, according to the ASP.
