The Watson Chapel School Board, meeting in regular session Monday night, discussed lessons learned in a recent National School Boards Association meeting in New Orleans.
District Superintendent Danny Hazelwood, who attended the session with four of the district’s seven directors, said the event provided helpful information.
The board also approved a financial report indicating an ending balance of $5,775,882. The district’s March expenditures were $2.043,862,03 while revenues were $1,720,015.62.
A discussion on the district’s employee bereavement policy on funeral leaves was initiated. The board directed Holcomb to review the bereavement policies of other districts and report on his findings at the board’s May meeting.
The board approved retirement requests for five district employees, including Watson Chapel High School football coach George Shelton. Other retirees are Tom Cogbill, Eursalen McDonley, Brenda Sharpmack and Linda Thompson.
