Police car heavily damaged in Saturday accident


A Pine Bluff police car was heavily damaged Saturday night when the officer driving it struck another vehicle that turned in front of him. Officer Joseph Wade was northbound on Blake Street at the Martha Mitchell Expressway when a 2005 Chrysler 300 driven by Catherine I. Spicer of Pine Bluff that was southbound on Blake Street attempted to turn left in front of the police car and was struck. According to the police accident report, damage to the 2010 Dodge Challenger police car was estimated at $10,500. Damage to the car driven by Spicer was estimated at $4,000. The report indicated both Wade and Spicer received minor injuries and were taken to Jefferson Regional Medical Center. Spicer was cited for failure to yield right of way on a left turn, and no proof of insurance. (Pine Bluff Commercial/Jennifer Ellis)
