Overnight house fire causes only minor injuries to resident

A Pine Bluff woman who received what are described as minor injuries in a residential fire at 1103 S. Tennessee St. late Wednesday night was treated and released from Jefferson Regional Medical Center overnight.

Ecelles Garrison, 68, was found lying on the ground in the back yard of the residence that was fully engulfed in flames when Pine Bluff Fire and Emergency Services personnel arrived on scene shortly after the 911 call came in at 10:04 p.m, according to officials.

PBFES Deputy Chief Ernest Jones said at the scene that Garrison was alert and talking before being transported to JRMC by ambulance.

“The cause of the fire is still under investigation,” Fire Chief Shauwn Howell said Thursday afternoon. “It took just under 30 minutes to extinguish. The home is a total loss.”

Neighbors told fire officials at the scene that Garrison had no utilities and cooked in her fireplace.
