A 24-year-old man was shot and killed Saturday evening after an apparent altercation on West 29th Avenue, police said.
Terrance Brooks was pronounced dead at 7:10 p.m. in the intensive care unit of Jefferson Regional Medical Center, according to Jefferson County Coroner Chad Kelley.
The cause of death was listed as gunshot wounds. Brooks’ body is expected to be sent to the state medical examiner’s office Sunday for an autopsy, Kelley said.
At approximately 2:52 p.m., Pine Bluff police were called to a reported shooting at 2109 W. 29th Ave., where they found Brooks bleeding in a car, according to police spokesman Lt. David Price.
Brooks was taken by ambulance to JRMC, where he later died.
Witnesses reported that Brooks and an unknown black male had an altercation before Brooks was shot. The man fled the scene and possibly got into a gray vehicle down the street.
A motive hasn’t been determined and the male suspect hasn’t been found, Price said. Detectives are following up with witnesses and the incident is still under investigation.
