LITTLE ROCK — The state Lottery Commission voted Wednesday to close three regional claim centers in Springdale, Jonesboro and Camden, a move that lottery officials said could save as much as $381,000 a year.
Each center will close when its lease runs out. The Springdale center will close Oct. 1, and the centers in Jonesboro and Camden will close Nov. 30, lottery officials said.
Each center has a two-person staff. Lottery Director Bishop Woosley said those employees can apply for other jobs within the lottery.
The Lottery Commission has been looking for ways to boost sagging revenue. All lottery revenue after expenses and prizes funds college scholarships for Arkansas students.
